Grand Makeover
Chanel will contribute 25 million euros (S$41 million) to the restoration and renovation of the Grand Palais, a large historic site, exhibition hall and museum complex located at Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Since 2005, the revered French luxury house has been showcasing its seasonal Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter runway shows with the most extravagant sets at the venue. Some of its most impressive sets include the Eiffel Tower, a Parisian brasserie, a French garden with a Versailles-inspired bosquet (a formal plantation of trees in a French formal garden), and even a launch pad for a rocket ship.
The Grand Palais renovation project is scheduled to begin in December 2020 and expected completion is in 2024, with a partial reopening in 2023.
