The Write Stuff
Smartphones may be our communication tool of choice, but writing instruments haven't fallen out of vogue yet. As proof, Pilot Pen enjoys the largest per capita sales figures in Singapore. For its 100th anniversary, it has created an elegant set of commemorative Maki-E pens, comprising seven pens in the motifs of the Seven Japanese Gods of Good Fortune. Each pen took three months to make and is crafted in Japanese black lacquer, with gold, silver and platinum powder.
Each set of seven goes for S$45,000, and there are only 100 of such sets available in the world (with an option for another 50 sets). These pens will only be available for delivery from March 2019. But buyers can place orders now at any of these three dealers: Aesthetic Bay, Elephant & Coral and Fook Hing. All the pens are serially numbered.
