If you loved Franco Zeffirelli's classic movie Romeo & Juliet, you'll be smitten with Stuttgart Ballet's dance version too. Choreographed by the legendary John Cranko in 1962, it is a faithful rendition of Shakespeare's classic tale of the star-crossed lovers from rival families who come to a tragic end.

Set to Sergei Prokofiev's grand score, Cranko's version was so groundbreaking and definitive, it inspired other choreographers, including that other British giant Kenneth MacMillan. Cranko tells the story with a clear, expressive and natural choreography that is unmatched by most other versions.

Romeo & Juliet by Stuttgart Ballet runs at the Esplanade Theatre from Oct 12 - 14. Tickets from Sistic.
