THE 2014 en primeur campaign is now in full swing. Lafite just released, at 280 euros per bottle, ex Bordeaux negociant. Mouton came out end of April at 240 euros, followed by Margaux and Haut Brion first week of May at the same price.
The general market sentiment is that the wines are classic and have good fruit, saved by the Indian summer - certainly the best vintage since 2010.
If the price is right, as in the case of Mouton, the wine will sell. The best commune is said to be Pauillac, which accounts for Mouton's popularity. Lafite apparently has also sold well and Carruades has been snapped up.
