Experimental Sounds
Dylan Tan
Local indie band The Observatory and Norwegian alternative outfit MoE often experiment with sounds and instruments to make music out of whatever they can lay their hands on in the studio.
Both groups have come together to collaborate on Shadows - which they stress is not a split EP like the one they released five years ago - because this time they are working collectively as one.
The three tracks all sound nothing like one another. Opener No Ground Surrounds is a hypnotic mix of modern electronic beats and Indian drums, while These are Heady Times is a haunting, softly plucked guitar ballad.
