Designer Priscilla Shunmugam expands from dresses to homeware.

PRISCILLA SHUNMUGAM DID something almost unthinkable for a homegrown fashion designer nearly 10 years ago - she took the aesthetics of traditional Southeast Asian dress and elevated them into globally appealing pret-a-porter. Among her creations were cheongsams with unexpected peplum details; cropped tops with kimono sleeves; and batik jumpsuits.
Earlier this year, she introduced a working woman's wardrobe: and now, she's turned her attention from the female figure to dining tables.
In December, the creator of independent label Ong Shunmugam will launch her homeware line, Ong Shunmugam Suvarnabumi, with a collection of tableware.
