The 12 best country pavilions at Venice Biennale
From Uganda to the US, here are the best country pavilions at the world's biggest art show
1. Singapore - Shubigi Rao
DESPITE its deceptively simple design, the Singapore Pavilion generated a lot of buzz among visitors at the Venice Biennale 2022 opening week. It is listed as one of the best pavilions by influential publications such as The Art Newspaper and Artsy.net – as well as this one.
Working with curator Ute Meta Bauer, Shubigi Rao has distilled a substantial part of her voluminous decade-long research into a new film and book titled Pulp III: An Intimate Inventory Of The Banished Book. They explore the phenomenon of book censorship, banning and destruction by zealots and tyrants, and, conversely, the valiant efforts by various individuals to preserve the targeted books.
