Festive Art
Parkview Museum's latest exhibition centres on Chinese New Year paintings, mounted in collaboration with National Art Museum of China and China Cultural Centre. It features over 100 auspicious New Year paintings, dating from the 17th-century Kangxi Period of Qing Dynasty to the period between late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
Many of these precious paperworks are the only copies that exist, and they illustrate the values, traditions, beliefs, superstitions and aesthetics of various regions of China during different eras. Most of the images are also happy, optimistic and celebratory, as one might expect of New Year images.
The exhibition titled Breezing Willow runs from now till Apr 12. Admission free.
