Five sports wishes for a happy 2022
There is plenty to look forward to with the football World Cup in Qatar and a new generation of tennis stars rising up the ranks

IT'S the first day of a brand new year today, and there's so much action coming up in the world of sports over the next 12 months.
Singapore will witness the return of several major live events, including the US$1.25 million SMBC Singapore Open golf tournament later this month, and the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the end of September. A couple of days after the Chinese New Year in early-February, all eyes will be on the Winter Olympics in Beijing. And at the end of the year, Qatar will stage the Fifa World Cup - in the middle of the European football season, no less.
Like all sports fans out there, I too have a wish list for 2022. Here, in no particular order, are just 5 of them. Happy new year, everyone!
