Flights of fancy
Neon Pigeon's new Carpenter Street home retains much of the buzzing vibe from its previous Keong Saik location
BEYOND Neon Pigeon's unreadable floor-to-ceiling facade of dark glass, broken only by the neon-pink outline of its eponymous bird, lies a "fantastic commotion", as bar manager Andy Griffiths puts it.
Its new Carpenter Street home, where it reopened in November, retains much of the buzzing vibe from its previous Keong Saik location - though the bar has sought to "grow up a little", with a touch more sophistication, adds Mr Griffiths.
Thus the sleek wood-and-leather chairs and a new raw bar - with a rotating menu of fresh catches - against a backdrop of black walls, concrete flooring, and murals bursting with colour and pop-culture references.
