2014 burgundies from de Vogue - good to great

I WAS fortunate to be able to visit Burgundy in August, my second this year, the earlier one in June having been all too brief. Spending more time, making more relaxed trips through the Cote d'Or instead of rushing from one Domaine to the other across the whole length of the Cote d'Or certainly made for a more leisurely visit which in turn allowed for a better understanding of the wines.

What I did not anticipate was visiting right at the beginning of the harvest. It normally takes place in late September but it was brought forward this year because of the hot and dry summer. But as always, my friends were quite understanding and forgiving.
