A taste of Europe in S'pore
The year-long Salon Gourmet 2015 showcases top European restaurants and chefs.
EUROPEAN cuisine takes centre stage this March with the launch of Salon Gourmet 2015 - a new year-long annual gourmet food and beverage event showcasing someof Singapore's top European restaurants and chefs.
This one-month extravaganza will see over 12 culinary events such as wine and spirits pairing dinners and cooking workshops held at restaurants such as Clifford, Raffles Grill, Absinthe, Scotts 27 and BAM! Tapas-Sake Bar. After March 31, the festival will continue with monthly wine-pairing dinners at various local establishments.
Senior manager of gourmet and festivals at Sphere Exhibits, Ian Lim, explains that it decided to focus on European cuisine because "Europe has been recognised as world leaders in gastronomy, with many of the top chefs trained in the traditional culinary bastions of France and Italy". He adds: "Plus, in recent years, new culinary nations like Spain and Norway have cooked up a storm in the culinary world."
