You can't go wrong with Folklore when it comes to celebrating local food culture for National Day. For the whole of August, chef Damian D'Silva is expanding his repertoire of Peranakan and Eurasian favourites to include other ethnic traditional recipes. They're all his own family recipes that are reserved for special occasions, and he's put them into a National Day set lunch priced at S$30 for two people, including dessert and local-inspired drinks. The menus are only available on weekdays. For the week ending Aug 3, dig into Braised Pork Trotters with Mui Choi, a Hakka speciality where the meat is braised in dark soya sauce scented with anise and cinnamon and served with preserved vegetables cooked in pork fat and garlic. From Aug 6 to 10, it's Nasi Minyak with Lamb Rendang and Sayur Lodeh; Dry Goat Curry with Briyani and Dhalchar from Aug 13 to 17; Peranakan Nasi Ulam from Aug 20 to 24; and finally Eurasian Birthday Noodles to end the month from Aug 27 to 31.
