VICTORIA Concert Hall is all set to play a new tune when Brasserie Astoria makes its official debut on Jul 25 at its premises.
Astoria is the sister restaurant of three-Michelin-starred Zen, and is styled to revive the classic brasserie dining experience in a historic building, but with a contemporary slant. Think of grand dining halls of yesteryear, when service meant steak tartare and Caesar salad prepared at your table, and old favourites such as steak frites and moules a la creme on the menu.
After a surfeit of fine dining restaurants in Singapore, Brasserie Astoria marks a move towards more casual and accessible dining, says Bjorn Frantzen, the Swedish chef-owner of the eponymous Frantzen Group. “Guests should be able to come by for a business lunch on a Tuesday, have cocktails in the bar with friends on a Thursday, and a three-course meal on a Saturday.”
