After a four month hiatus, the Orchard Cafe is back in business, sporting a fresh contemporary look even as it continues to do what it does best - serving authentic local fare in cool air-conditioned comfort. While there are a few modern twists here and there, you can expect the same emphasis on much-loved local favourites. One example is the hard-to-find taukwa pau - beancurd stuffed with chopped egg, yam and fish cake and drizzled with braised duck gravy - which is a mainstay on its lunch and dinner buffet menus, and executive chef Bryce Li tops it with tea-smoked duck. There's a long list of Singapore fare such as its signature braised pork knuckle bee hoon; ox tripe and duck's heart satay; and Roti John, but made with lobster meat and topped with gooey cheese and mayo.
