AFTER a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19, Football With a Heart (FWAH) has returned to raise a record-breaking amount of more than S$1 million for its beneficiaries.

On Saturday (Nov 26), the seventh edition of Singapore’s biggest executive football fundraising charity tournament was held at Our Tampines Hub with 40 corporate teams in the five-a-side tournament. It featured parliamentarians Tan Chuan-Jin and Seah Kian Peng, and former Singapore international football legends Noor Ali and Lim Tong Hai.

Football Association of Singapore (FAS) general secretary Yazeen Buhari said: “FWAH is a unique event that brings together various corporate entities in the spirit of friendly sporting competition while raising funds for those in need.”

Inaugurated in 2012, FWAH is Singapore’s first charity fund-raiser set up as a partnership between private and public sectors. To date, more than S$5 million has been raised for 45 unique charities and social enterprises including FAS Cares, Filos Community Services, iShine Cloud and SportCares. Co-organised by Singapore Pools, FAS and Sport Singapore, FWAH endeavours to reinforce the commitment of Singapore’s companies to use sports as a force for social good.

Dr Foo Fung Fong, executive director of Filos Community Services, said: “Filos works to build resilience in our families and empower the children and youth through academic support and enrichment programmes”.

“Your S$50 goes a long way in supporting a child through monthly tuition, and S$250 assists a needy family with their daily necessities for three months.”
