Free and easy travel with no restrictions

Itching to travel, but not sure of the requirements needed to enter the different countries? Here’s where to go without being subjected to quarantines and Covid-19 related tests. When coming back to Singapore, all travellers are required to complete the SG Arrival Card up to 72 hours before departure.

Australia

A hot destination with families, travel to Down Under is now a breeze, as long as travellers show proof of full Covid-19 vaccinations. The country has also done away with the need for any pre-departure testing requirements. Visitors will need to submit a digital passenger declaration form via the Australia DPD app within 7 days of departure. The various states have different requirements regarding the wearing of face masks, but generally face masks are required on public transport

Austria

Missing some authentic wiener schnitzel or hiking in the Austrian alps? Good news as since May 16, Austria no longer requires visitors to show a proof of vaccination or recovery from Covid-19. There is also no need for any tests before entering the country. FFP2 or N95 masks are only mandatory on public transport, when using taxis and in essential shops.

Faroe Islands

A fairly new destination for those who have already been to Iceland, but are still seeking more open lands. As Covid-19 cases have been low on the islands, and with a successful recovery plan, the Faroese government has since Feb, decided to lift all restrictions. Visitors to the Faroe Islands travel through Denmark, which has also done away with any testing or quarantine.

France

Since Feb, travelling to France has become a breeze. Fully vaccinated travellers will not be required to do any testing before departure from Singapore. They do need to show proof a complete vaccination status upon arrival. All travellers are required to complete the European Digital Passenger Locator Form online prior to travel.

Germany 

Germany was on Singapore’s first approved destination under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme, and back then travellers had to fly on designated flights, take several tests and be in the country for the last 21 consecutive days. All that is no longer needed. Travellers now only need to show a proof of vaccination to enter, using a  digital EU COVID certificate. This applies when travelling to other EU countries as well.

Indonesia

Bali was another popular destination for vacationers over the long weekend. Proof of vaccination is still required and from May 18, pre-departure testing is no longer required.

Italy

Since March, fully vaccinated travellers do not require any testing to enter the country. As with many EU countries, travellers are required to show their proof of vaccination. 

Malaysia

The good old days of popping into Johor Baru for a spot of refuelling, eating and shopping are back.  Singapore and Malaysia reopened their land borders to fully-vaccinated travellers without any restrictions in March.

And on May 1, Malaysia further eased its entry requirements. Fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to undergo testing or quarantine, but they will need to upload their vaccination certification through Malaysia’s MySafeTravel portal. Visitors also have to download the MySejahtera App to fill in a pre-departure form.

Maldives

While many countries had their borders closed for most of the pandemic, the Maldives was one of the few countries to open in mid 2020, without quarantine requirements.  All remaining travel requirements have been removed since March, meaning fully vaccinated travellers do not need to show a negative test to enter. 

Masks are still required at the airport and on the seaplanes, but otherwise guests can go mask-free at the resorts.

South Africa

Time to head out to meet the big cats on a safari. Since March, fully vaccinated travellers to South Africa no longer need to produce a negative Covid-19 test. A health traveller questionnaire has to be completed upon arrival. Masks are required in indoor public spaces.

Spain

Like many EU countries, travelling to Spain requires little fuss. There are no testing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers. But travellers from Singapore will be required to complete SpTH Health Control Form, from 72 hours before departure. Travellers will then receive a QR code to show during boarding and when passing through customs. The QR code is also needed to collect luggage.

Switzerland

If you are the sort who buys air tickets at the spur of the moment, then why not head to Switzerland? International travel to Switzerland is permitted, without needing any health testing. The same conditions also apply for onward travel to Liechtenstein.

 Thailand

Judging by the number of people who were in Bangkok during the recent long weekends, Singaporeans sure miss the Thai capital a lot. Since May 1, the Kingdom has done away with its Test & Go scheme, so visitors will be free to travel the around the country immediately upon arrival. Previously, travellers had to do a PCR test and stay in a hotel while awaiting their results. 

Visitors, however, are still required to apply for a Thailand Pass before arrival, including submitting vaccination certificates and proof of insurance.

UK

Travel restrictions are fully relaxed with England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland no longer requiring travellers to complete a UK passenger locator form before you travel. There’s also no need to take any tests before or after arrival. The rules apply to travellers regardless of their vaccination status.

Vietnam

Since May 15, Vietnam has dropped Covid-19 testing requirements for all international arrivals. Singaporeans can enter Vietnam without a visa for 30 days. Upon arrival, visitors have to show proof of a valid medical/travel insurance covering Covid-19 treatment with a minimum liability of US$10,000 and download the PC-Covid mobile app which must be presented to enter all Vietnamese establishments.
