Games and giving: Children for Children’s SG60 carnival raises S$124,000
The annual fundraiser has supported more than 15,000 underserved children since its inception in 2008
[SINGAPORE] More than 400 children gathered at Fort Canning’s Fort Gate to play in four themed zones for this year’s Playland Fiesta: SG60 Edition by Children for Children on Thursday (Oct 2) and Friday.
The zones were Futurescape, Imaginarium Lab, Adventure Playground and Foodie Land, where the children played robot control games and carnival games, did upcycling activities, and watched stage performances about friendship and teamwork set against the backdrop of Singapore’s evolving landscape since 1965.
This year’s event also raised S$124,000 from companies such as the Hong Leong Group, UBS Singapore, ArtBeatz and DHL Express Singapore, with BNP Paribas providing support via staff volunteering.
A Hong Leong spokesperson said: “Supporting this year’s Playland Fiesta is our way of ensuring that underserved children know they are being valued and their potential is equally important. We believe that investing in children today builds stronger communities and a brighter future for Singapore.”
Now in its 17th edition, Playland Fiesta rallied students from more than 11 schools.
Chen Huifen, editor of The Business Times, said: “Seeing this event grow and touch young lives confirms that the causes we support and the stories we tell do matter. They help shape a brighter future for the next generation.”
