Gifts for the art lover
Linda Neo, Art collector
My husband and I buy art as Christmas presents to ourselves. One of our favourite artists is Jane Lee who employs unconventional methods and media. This Christmas, we placed her beautiful painting Melt VII on our wall so we can plan our entire Christmas decoration around the work. It's green with splashes of pink.
We have a pair of good friends who are fascinated with art but don't collect it. So we gave them a lovely Lim Tze Peng ink painting which they now display proudly in their living room. We don't often give away art as gifts, firstly because a good piece isn't cheap, and secondly because the experience of art is very subjective. So we made sure this work suited their tastes and aesthetics.
