GIN LOVERS IN LONDON have Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall to thank for the revival of handcrafted, small-batch gin production.
The pair, childhood pals who grew up in Cornwall, started Sipsmith in 2009, when it became the first copper-pot based distillery in London in nearly 200 years. Their mission? To bring London Dry Gin back to the city where it first earned its name.
The story goes of how Mr Galsworthy and Mr Hall, who had previously been working for other drinks companies, were taken by the craft beer movement while working in the United States. They wanted to do the same with gin, which they had grown up with.
