THERE were 19 tennis superstars in action on the opening day of the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) in Singapore but the loudest cheers were arguably reserved for 44-year-old Andre Agassi.
The American, an eight-time grand slam champion, is one of the main stars of the DBS Singapore Slammers team. He received a thunderous ovation when he strode onto centre court but he was later trounced 3-6 by the big-serving Australian Mark Philippoussis, much to the dismay of the thousands of fans in the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
