FootJoy launches new performance fitting system

MANY golfers are familiar with club or ball-performance fitting when it comes to improving their game. Now, a new innovative system shows just how important it is to choose the right footwear. FootJoy has introduced a first-of-its kind performance fitting system, called the FJ Performance Fitting System (FJ PFS). Using BodiTrak technology and a proprietary algorithm, the FJ PFS can very quickly determine the type of golf footwear that will best unlock speed and power in a golfer's swing.

Explains Al Martin, senior vice-president - Worldwide Sales FootJoy: "Different players have variant swings and they interact with the ground in different ways. They also have different muscles and bone structure. One of the things that we've learnt is that not every player benefits from the same type of golf shoe."

The FJ PFS is a mobile unit comprising a BodiTrak pressure mat and iPad with FJ's custom mobile application. With as little as three swings, a golf professional can guide a player through a fitting to determine their responder type and ultimately select a footwear that best suits their swing.

There are those golfers who may gravitate towards a "structured shoe" such as an Icon Black, DryJoys Tour, Pro/SL or Contour, or they may measure up better for a mobile type which includes DNA, VersaLuxe, Contour Casual, Hyperflex or FreeStyle shoes. Or, some can actually be a dual responder.

These "Responder Types" shoes (mobile, dual, structured) saw performance increases of up to 3 MPH of clubhead speed when using the system. The FJ PFS will be demonstrated at various driving ranges across South-east Asia starting July 2016.
