IN A food paradise like Singapore, starting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging.

In fact, poor dietary habits are cited as a key obstacle to healthy weight management. This is according to a recent lifestyle survey conducted by beauty and wellness company Nu Skin Singapore, where 77 per cent of respondents indicated dissatisfaction with their current weight and body shape.

Being overweight may lead to potential metabolic syndrome and weight health issues that affect one’s overall quality of life, cautions the World Health Organisation.

The Body Mass Index (BMI) serves as a barometer for weight health. A BMI range of 18.5 to 22.9 is considered healthy, while a BMI of 23 to 27.5 signals the need for proactive weight management to mitigate heightened health risks. In Singapore, the Ministry of Health’s National Population Health Survey 2022 reported that nearly 60 per cent of residents aged 18 to 74 had moderate to high risk BMI.

Recognising this imperative, Nu Skin Singapore initiated the #FitterSG movement in 2023. Through this movement, the company frequently organises wellness-related events and programmes, empowering Singaporeans with knowledge and resources to cultivate healthier lifestyles.

This includes an upcoming nutrition and wellness course in July conducted by Temasek Polytechnic. Initiated by Nu Skin and designed by Temasek Polytechnic, this course caters to both the public and Nu Skin brand affiliates who seek to be equipped with invaluable insights into dietary management and the judicious use of supplements to support holistic wellness.

    Holistic wellness approach

In Nu Skin’s lifestyle survey conducted in May this year, other key barriers to healthy weight management included hectic lifestyles, concerns over the safety of weight management products, and a lack of self-control or professional guidance.

As a leading integrated beauty and wellness company, Nu Skin aims to offer comprehensive and sustainable solutions that are not just about losing weight. The company’s holistic approach harmonises an active lifestyle, balanced nutrition, and scientifically substantiated weight management supplements.

Nu Skin’s global footprint spans nearly 50 markets, bolstered by its network of brand affiliates. Among them are consultants who provide personalised guidance for individuals to navigate their unique weight management journeys through the company’s tailored programme and products.

At the TRMe Discovery Expo event on May 25, participants took part in a 3km walk, did body metrics assessments and listened to expert discussions. The event also marked the launch of the company’s latest weight management programme, ageLOC TRMe – a holistic weight-management system comprising science-based supplements, a balanced eating plan and an active lifestyle.
