A SHOW for both visual and performance artists, as well as a show that illustrates modern Indian history and Singapore's part in it, which adds up to 50 hours.

For 50 hours starting tonight, the Singapore audience has been invited to watch the painting of an artwork from start to end, and also witness the artist performing a narrative on India's epic fight for freedom from colonial rule.

In a performance specially commissioned by the Singapore International Festival of Arts, performance artist Nikhil Chopra will paint and also assume the character of a female warrior, Jhansi, fighting for political independence. The timeline is the 1940s, when India is in a war to unshackle itself from 200 years of British rule.
