PRINCESS Grace of Monaco, Audrey Hepburn and Queen Elizabeth II are known for their very different senses of style, but one fashion accessory unites them: the Hermes scarf. Designs for the Hermes carre scarf - drawn from the company's classic origins as a maker of saddles and other equestrian tackle, and taking inspiration from traditional crafts around the world - are being used for new watch models.

"We decided to develop timepieces of exception that are really the marriage between arts and manual craftsmanship," said Luc Perramond, chief executive of La Montre Hermes, the company's watch division, which is based in Bienne, Switzerland. "We said the guiding principle would be that every single design would be one that belongs to the house: a drawing, a scarf or a bath towel."
