DJ KoFlow is not afraid to speak openly about his troubled past. As a teenager, he was involved in gangs until he got caught and his probation officer straightened him out.

The turntablist, who was born Wayne Liu, hasn't looked back since and is now one of the local hip hop scene's most established and respected artists. He is a regular fixture on the club circuit and plays at Phuture in Zouk every Saturday, on top of performing alongside the likes of Mariah Carey and Kanye West, and touring overseas.

The 36-year-old's (larger-than-) life story will unfold in a special show titled Flow: A DJ's Story of KoFlow at the Esplanade next Friday. It is billed as a one-of-a-kind hip hop theatrical spectacle, and will feature special guests like rapper Shigga Shay, percussionist Mohamed Noor, breakdancers Radikal Forze and more.
