IF you want to end August on a high note - literally - then get your tickets to the popular Singapore Lyric Opera Gala. This year's concert will feature the Singapore debut of two international opera stars - Kishani Jayasinghe, and Filipino-American tenor Arthur Espiritu.
The UK-based Jayasinghe was the first Sri Lankan and South Asian soprano to sing as a soloist at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, and is thrilled to be making her Singapore debut.
"Personally, I'm very excited, as I get to sing many of my favourite leading ladies in one evening," she says. Jayasinghe has been performing since she was a child, making her orchestral debut with Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate at the tender age of 14.
