ON the surface, family gatherings at Martin Taylor's home sound just like any other. Dinner, conversation, followed by some music-listening around the fireplace.
Except that he is a Grammy-nominated jazz musician, and his daughter-in-law, Alison Burns, is an award-winning jazz vocalist. So while other families would just pop in a CD, the duo would simply perform live in his living room.
"I am away touring so much, so when I come home, we often have family over for dinner. She sings and I play the guitar - it's a relaxing and nice way to spend time with the family," says Taylor, 58.
