It took eight years for dance queen Robyn to record her sixth solo album, but it's worth the wait. The 39-year-old singer proves once more that she's able to turn her loneliness and heartache into catchy music, transforming personal pain into slick dance-floor numbers.
Titled Honey, the album features songs that reflect on her romantic breakup, as well as the death of her longtime producer Christian Falk. Mixing existential melancholy with uptempo beats, Robyn is something of an Adele of the dance hall, helping the lost and lonely work through their emotions while moving their bodies to cool synthpop. Standout songs include Missing U, Baby Forgive Me, Ever Again and, of course, the fine title track Honey.
Honey is available on iTunes.
