Income Eco Run raises S$60,000 in support of zero-waste lifestyle
The funds raised will go to the Singapore Environment Council in support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030
ABOUT 5,000 participants gathered for the Income Eco Run (IER) at the Marina Barrage on Sunday (May 26) morning.
The event was in support of a zero-waste and sustainable lifestyle ahead of World Environment Day, which falls on Jun 5.
Income Insurance also donated S$1 for every kilometre clocked by the runners, with the event raising S$60,000 in total – a 50 per cent increase from last year.
The funds raised went to the Singapore Environment Council, in support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
A new category was also introduced this year for children aged four to 12 years, where they could participate in either a 700-metre or 1 km run.
Athletes from the Special Olympics also took part in various categories, alongside participants of different ages, backgrounds and fitness levels.
Income Insurance chief executive officer Andrew Yeo said that the IER “exemplifies our commitment to championing zero-waste practices, which are fundamental to a sustainable lifestyle”.
“Such real-world changes directly contribute to us achieving our collective Net Zero 2050 ambition,” he said.
“To us, the IER is more than just a run. It is an annual rallying call for participants of all ages and fitness levels to embrace a healthy, inclusive and sustainable way of life.”
