It's the Beatles redux in 2-hour stage homage
THE members of Beatlemania, a Beatles tribute group from Scotland, may be in their 20s but they don't like being called young. "We're possibly one of the youngest acts out there but I won't write that down actually,"says Craig McGown, who plays the late George Harrison, over the phone from UK earlier this week, ahead of the band's Singapore gig.
Fresh from just playing 13 shows in six days at International Beatleweek - a festival dedicated to all things Beatles, where Beatlemania was just crowned Favourite Band - the 26-year-old has every reason to shun the tag because they are veterans of sorts, having been together for five years now.
"We take our jobs - but not ourselves - very seriously; some people are so surprised by how much effort we make that they call us lunatics," explains McGown. Together with his bandmates Joe Kane (Paul McCartney), Clark Gilmour (John Lennon) and Grahame Critcher (Ringo Starr), they will be touring here for the first time next week in a show that will span The Fab Four's short but illustrious 10-year career.
