Shortly after qualifying as a doctor, Geraldine Buckingham did a Master's at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, and then gave herself two years to explore areas outside medicine. She became a financial services consultant - and is today head of BlackRock's Asia-Pacific operations. The former ER surgeon sees parallels between medicine and asset management, and wants particularly to address the retirement crisis that besets many countries in Asia.
