K-DINING has been giving K-drama a run for its money, especially after the launch of the massively successful Culinary Class Wars reality cooking show on Netflix in September. The show made stars out of its black and white “spoons” – a collection of upcoming and established chefs who battled in elaborate kitchen setups that had viewers salivating over every episode.

But more than anything, the show catapulted Korean cooking into the global spotlight, and even in Korea itself. In the process, it has transformed the lives of the featured chefs and their restaurants, which now see long waiting lists. In Friday’s edition of BT Lifestyle, we look at how Culinary Class Wars has redefined the Korean dining scene, along with a guide to some of the restaurants spotlighted in the show.

In Arts, take a peek at world-famous photographer Sebastiao Salgado’s works at the National Museum Singapore, in a large and stunning exhibition of black-and-white photos of the Amazon jungle and its indigenous communities. In Style, we meet scent-maker Jo Malone, who shares her thoughts on her new brand Jo Loves, and her plans for Christmas.

In Dining, get a taste of premium wagyu yakiniku at almost-neighbourhood prices at Ushiyama, a new grill spot in Holland Village.

If you’re hungry for all this and more, don’t miss Friday’s edition of BT.
