Kam For Laughs
Potty-mouthed women seem to be all the rage on stage these days. And Joanne Kam, a popular stand-up comedian from Malaysia, is intent on conquering the Singapore scene too. Indeed, she is to KL what Kumar is to Singapore, having first made her name in KL's Boom Boom Room. For her solo stand-up at the Merry Lion, expect plenty of risqué jokes that include comparisons of men across Asia, the idiosyncrasies of Singaporeans and Malaysians in the bedroom, as well as self-deprecating takes on being an ah lian - her word, not ours. Across the causeway, Kam is also known as a TV and radio star, a theatre producer and a sex columnist for Esquire magazine.
Joanne Kam performs at the Merry Lion at 8pm on Sep 6 and 7. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets at S$20 from Sistic.
