Keeping the magic of filmmaking alive
AS it is with most other industries, the filmmaking business in Singapore has been dealt a heavy blow by the pandemic crisis. But again, in a clear pattern where tenacity overcomes adversity, movie producers are fighting to pull their industry out of the doldrums.
In tomorrow's BTLifestyle, we meet three film producers who are leading the charge: Nelson Mok of Endeavour Content; Fran Borgia of Akanga (who produced the acclaimed Sandcastle); and Huang Junxiang of Zhao Wei Films. From pushing ahead with theatrical releases of movies already completed, pitching for film festivals, or remote post-production, the trio are among a group of creative professionals devoted to keeping the magic of filmmaking alive.
Meanwhile, for minimalist homeowners who fear taking risks with bold colours or designs, check out this week's design focus to see how the functional look can get a boost with adventurous twists. And if you think rattan furniture is too retro for your style, get some ideas on how to work it into a contemporary home.
Dining-wise, we take a look at a trio of Singaporean chefs serving up modern interpretations of familiar Asian fare at Avenue 87 - goreng pisang without the banana, anyone?
