WHY build sandcastles in the air when you can build a solid foundation on the ground?
Such is the mantra of the Les Amis group, which is sinking money into a foundation of local talent - through a culinary challenge.
In March, the restaurant group held a series of fundraisers to commemorate its 20th anniversary. This included a charity auction at which it raised S$1.08 million (including the government's dollar-for-dollar matching grant) to increase the number of recipients in its Temasek Polytechnic and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) scholarship programmes.
