Leave the CEO at the door, and dance, says RSVP's Bettina von Schlippe
RSVP's Bettina von Schlippe started a new chapter in life when she made good on a childhood dream
I WAS struggling with my life. It started when my mother passed away in 2016 and my immediate reaction was to drown all my sorrow and pain in work. I kept myself busy, not difficult, with two companies to manage on opposite sides of the world - my communication agency RSVP in Moscow and my publishing ambitions in Singapore. Consequently, for me it meant long distance commutes between Singapore and Moscow. A rhythm of two to three weeks in between airports, offices and meetings.
It was on one of those endless grey days in Moscow that I decided something had to change. Reflecting on priorities and how to balance my life, I felt exhausted with no energy. Yes, I know what you are thinking: Is this a midlife crisis story or an article about the benefits of dancing?
It is both. The solution came with a to-do list of things I always wanted to do but never did. Don't we all have these hidden ideas of becoming the next Pavarotti, a genius writer or a master in chess?
