Legendary performances: Helen McCrory
By turns fragile and formidable, the late Helen McCrory was one of theatre's most gifted actresses.
ASK a film buff for the surname of "that legendary English actress Helen" and they're likely to reply "Mirren". Ask a theatre buff the same question and you might get "McCrory".
Over the past two decades, McCrory gave some of the most unforgettable performances in London theatres, including the lead roles in 2014's Medea and 2016's The Deep Blue Sea.
She had a formidably calm and intelligent presence that belied a mysterious ferocity that could hold the attention of 900 people every night for months.
