OFF Kilter is described by its creators as a play about mental illness. But it's broader and more universal than that.

The anxiety and confusion that its protagonist goes through after losing his job - one which he pins his happiness and well-being to - are emotions anyone would undergo if put in the same shoes.

The difference is a question of degree and intensity: In the case of the protagonist, his agony, confusion and loss of purpose reach Kafka-esque dimensions when he begins to see how truly alone he is in this world. Echoes of Gregor Samsa are unmistakable.
