Living green
Tay Suan Chiang
Like charity, change begins at home and Ikea wants to show that living sustainably doesn't take much effort.
On July 22 and 23, its Alexandra and Tampines stores will be running tours of their newly furnished Sustainable Homes to show shoppers how they can adopt a greener lifestyle.
There's also the Take-Back Programme, which allows you to exchange your pre-loved, fully assembled furniture for Ikea cash vouchers of S$3 to S$60 in value. The programme runs at the Tampines store from now till Aug 6 and both Ikea and non-Ikea furniture are accepted. They will then be given to second-hand furniture shops, disassembled and recycled in an environmentally responsible way, or resold at the 'As-Is' area for no profit.
