JUST what would an artist have to do for over two days that would justify the time to watch a performance? You'll find the answer in Nikhil Chopra's 50-hour performance art piece, Give Me Blood and I Will Give You Freedom because it's the kind that separates the nominal art-goer from the serious enthusiast.

But it must be said those whose interest was piqued by the effort, and dropped by for even 30 minutes a day to catch this "work-in-progress" from Friday night to Sunday night (Aug 7-9), were immensely rewarded.

Chopra's work demanded only one's time, while it gave back much more in terms of a visceral experience. To witness his durational performance art piece was like stepping into the pages of a graphic novel, watching the story unfold before you - in painting, animation, light and sound, with one solo artist-performer as the main creator of this tale.
