"La bocca! La bocca!" Having tipped my head back, I soon discovered, after wild gesticulation on his part, that the Italian man about to administer my PCR test didn't want me to flare my nostrils but to open my mouth.
He apparently wished to scrub remnants of my lunch off my tonsils, before shoving the same cotton swab up my nose. I know the Italians are immensely proud of their cuisine, but this struck me as faintly ridiculous.
