FOOD and beverage entrepreneur Liu Hsin and his wife have a soft spot for the Capella Singapore - it was where they held their wedding several years ago. They loved the decor of the hotel so much that when it came to deciding on a look for their home in Bukit Timah, Liu says it was a no-brainer that they wanted their apartment to “have that Capella Singapore-like feel”.

To execute their vision, they picked Danny Goh, design director at Nook Design purely on the basis of seeing his past projects, and didn’t bother to shop around. Goh accepted their brief, but also gave them a reality check.

“We are working with very different budgets,” says Goh, comparing the renovation of the apartment to the luxury five-star hotel.
