THE local film industry just got a boost with a Singapore investment management company pumping S$4 million into a slate of movies over the next two years.

MM2 Entertainment - the company behind many of Jack Neo's box-office smashes including the latter's record-breaking Ah Boys To Men duology - made the announcement on Tuesday on the back of its latest production, Wayang Boy, which is the pioneer beneficiary of the partnership it sealed with 3V SourceOne Capital (3VS1).

The deal marks 3VS1's first foray into films. Previously, it invested in growth stage businesses and projects in media, education and fast-moving consumer goods sectors with a geographical focus in the Asia-Pacific region.
