Sarah Choo Jing, one of Singapore's best young artists, has produced a knockout show titled Accelerated Intimacy at Yeo Workshop. The gallery has been transformed into a hotel room with an accompanying bar, and her video works are projected onto acrylic panels, creating the illusion of spectral images floating in the room. Each moving image depicts a person alone in a lavish hotel room, reciting lines from famous films as if they are unable to express their own thoughts. Here, a young boy plays a forlorn violin against a window overlooking Singapore's bright city skyline. There, a woman in a bathtub slowly breaks down. The images collectively portray the bleak reality of loneliness in urban city centres.

Accelerated Intimacy by Sarah Choo Jing is showing at Yeo Workshop, Gillman Barracks, till Mar 4. Admission free. Gallery closed on Mondays.
