M1's month of contemporary dance kicks off
THE contemporary dance scene has grown by leaps and bounds in the last five years and this year's eighth edition of the M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival attests to that growth with a wide variety of international and local offerings.
There are a total of 27 dance works from 15 nationalities; and there certainly is no shortage of creations in this year's lineup as the audience can look forward to seven new works.
Festival director Kuik Swee Boon says: "When we started the festival, there were fewer players promoting contemporary dance at such a scale and depth. It is now an art form that's widely accepted in Singapore."
