FOR the festive season this year, charity organisation Make-A-Wish Singapore launched two initiatives aimed at raising S$300,000 to support children with critical illnesses in Singapore.
One initiative is Santa Race for Wishes, the organisation’s annual community event that raises funds to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Dr Jeremy Lin, chairperson of Make-A-Wish Singapore, said: “As a doctor, I have personally witnessed the transformation in my young patients and their families when their wishes come true – our wish children realise that anything is possible, and dreams can come true.”
Santa Race was launched on Dec 9 at VivoCity Waterfront Boardwalk, where more than 130 runners from Singapore Runners Club joined the event.
From Dec 9 to 31, people can sign up for Santa Race for free and donate to the cause. Participants can choose to walk, run or cycle individually or as a group to collectively accumulate 40,075 km. As at Thursday (Dec 28), close to 2,000 participants have registered.
Another initiative is Wishmas, a campaign in partnership with retailers across Singapore who have pledged to donate part of their sales proceeds to Make-A-Wish. The partner retailers are: Amo, Castlery, Food Collective, Paris Baguette, Plain Vanilla, Toys “R” Us, TRT Concepts, Wheelers Estate and Wooloomooloo Steakhouse.

Santa Race is sponsored by NTUC FairPrice Foundation.
