MBS to hold first public fan event in 2 years with Top Gun multimedia showcase
MARINA Bay Sands (MBS) is holding its first public fan event since the start of the pandemic more than 2 years ago - a Top Gun-themed light, water and pyrotechnic showcase at the integrated resort’s event plaza on Saturday (May 21) evening.
The event, organised together with United International Pictures, is in conjunction with the upcoming worldwide release of Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the 1986 movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise.
MBS is adapting Spectra, its nightly multimedia light and water show, for a Top Gun-themed spectacle that will feature lasers, lights and water effects alongside some of the scenes from the sequel. The projections will illuminate MBS’ 3 hotel towers, the Sands SkyPark on the 57th storey, as well as the nearby ArtScience Museum.
The show, which starts at 8pm, is free and open to the public. Those who miss the first show can catch a second run on the same night at 9.30pm, without the pyrotechnics display.
MBS chief operating officer Paul Town said this first public fan event in 2 years, together with the relaunch of Spectra, “truly indicates our transition to endemic living” as the integrated resort continues to take its entertainment offerings to new heights.
Top Gun: Maverick opens in theatres in Singapore on May 25. The movie will have its IMAX premiere on May 20 and a screening for invited guests at MBS’ Sands Theatre on May 21.
