Megadeth returns to form
The heavy metal titan's frontman finds himself fired up by the state of the world on the band's latest Grammy-winning album.
MEGADETH'S outspoken frontman Dave Mustaine is surprisingly affable in an email interview ahead of the band's return to Singapore in about a week. Usually better known for his straight-talking ways and controversial views, the fiery thrash metal icon disarms us slightly with his uncharacteristically easy-going charm.
When congratulated for picking up a Best Metal Performance Grammy for the band's latest album Dystopia (2016) earlier this year, he replies with a very gentlemanly: "Thank you very much."
The 55-year-old isn't even miffed that the house band tried to rain on his parade by playing Metallica's Master of Puppets as he was walking up to collect the prize: "At first, I didn't know if we actually won ... It took a few seconds for it to actually sink in. Then, once I realised we had won, they could have been playing any song and I wouldn't have cared."
