Mizuho Singapore Foundation partners Awwa to bring festive cheer to needy seniors
The bank’s Gift-a-Smile programme saw more than 380 gifts distributed to low-income families
[SINGAPORE] With Christmas just around the corner, the Mizuho Singapore Foundation held its annual Gift-a-Smile initiative where the bank’s employees adopted wishes and purchased more than 380 gifts that were distributed to families in need through its community partner Awwa.
The foundation was launched in 2024, as part of Mizuho Bank Singapore’s 50th anniversary celebrations, to support the bank’s philanthropic initiatives and drive social impact here.
The foundation comprises a US$1 million donor-advised fund with TT Foundation Advisors, an initiative of Temasek Trust – the philanthropic arm of Singapore investment company Temasek.
As part of this year’s Gift-a-Smile, the foundation also welcomed more than 30 seniors from Awwa Senior Community Home to the bank’s office for a festive gathering that was attended by Mizuho Bank Singapore chief executive officer Josephine Lok, Asia-Pacific CEO Koichi Zaiki and other members of the senior management team.
The seniors made festive ornaments, took part in a singing session, played a bingo game, and received goodie bags that were prepared by the bank’s volunteers.
Earlier this year, the foundation also partnered Awwa to support other events including the Hari Raya and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.
